CURRENTLY THERE ARE MANY SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS THROUGHOUT RURAL ZIMBABWE. THE BENEFITS OF THESE PROJECTS IMPROVES THE DAILY LIFE WITH CLEAN WATER, EDUCATION, NUTRITIOUS FOOD, AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS

clean water

The Zimbabwe Project focuses on transforming the lives of children and their families in rural communities by providing safe and clean drinking water that will help keep them strong and healthy.

LIBRARY & BOOKS

Thanks to a grant from Rotary International, the Rotary Clubs of Vernon BC and Harare City, and assisted by the Zimbabwe Project, we were able to build and equip 25 school libraries in rural Zimbabwe. The grant also provided training for at least 2 librarians at each school ensuring proper care of books and efficient library management systems. Prior to the "Library Project", what few books existed were old, scarce or completely obsolete. There were no bookshelves to house the few books that remained and bug infestation and water damage took their toll. There were no tables and chairs for children to work at and librarian training was non-existent.

The 25 libraries are improving the quality of education for thousands of students, teachers and families in rural Zimbabwe. Libraries were constructed in both Primary and Secondary Schools and the average school had 374 students. Each Primary School received approximately 200 books while each Secondary School received between 116 and 200 books. Clearly, the schools are still in need of more books. Help us buy more books by donating today.

orphan sponsorship

Education is a valuable and much needed tool to create opportunities for vulnerable youth. Please visit our Orphan Sponsorship page for the opportunity to sponsor a child or, if you are able, an entire school. You have the chance to make a meaningful difference in a child's life.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Gardens

Provide a woman with the tools to grow a garden and she will not only feed her household but the whole community at large. Establishing garden projects goes a long way toward addressing the issue of malnutrition in rural areas.

Poultry

When determined and like minded people with a common vision work together, change can and will happen. Poultry projects can support several families or entire schools. Families can generate income to provide necessary school fees for their children as well as other essential needs. Projects such as this, can also provide participants with marketable skills by teaching poultry rearing skills.

Sewing

These projects make school uniforms which they sell to the local schools. This creates a sustainable source of revenue that benefits the entire community.
